Birds and Beer

by Max Brady

I must be getting old, it took me a while to get the gag on this, normally I see them coming a while back. There’s a lot of strong work coming out of Australia right now, and we all have a utopian view of the dove, so it kind of makes this even funnier.

From the agency Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, I present you with their latest instalment in the Pure Blonde Brewtopia campaign, where some director had a bit of fun putting in the madness, check out the home cinema presentation to the Dove in question.

Addicted to FaceBook and Twitter?

by Max Brady

I am a big fan of FaceBook and indeed of Twitter, (Some of you might know that already!), but there is the danger of becoming addicted, or as some say, ‘permanently, partially engaged’. (Take that one to your therapist!)

But this spot for Sony Vaio, from agency NASCOM in Belgium depicts very well, how we can all become lost in the world of Social Media addiction. Funny, well up to the last line anyway, and a good example of how just because you’re making ‘homemade’ style videos, or commercials, that doesn’t always mean it’s for free. (You know who you are!)

Only in Australia….

by Max Brady

…would they come up with something like this. Taking the idea behind Woodstock, they have created “Lambstock”. That’s right, if you’re a vegetarian, you might not want to look at this. They have to be tongue in cheek on this, see how they have incorporated joints, spliffs, and even how to roll a joint with pitta bread into one 45 second film. Marvel at the way the actors all turn their heads as they smell the aroma of BBQ’ed lamb as though they are smelling weed burning.

But let me be clear, I like this, even if it is about eating cute little lambs. It’s actually quite funny, and the production on it is really good, it almost feels like a music festival, where so many others just fall flat. But as ways to get high without drugs go…? Make your own mind up.

(Oh and as a PS, see how the words fit with the action, ’season’ and ‘turn’. Hilarious!)
